Yesterday, I went over the gameplay of Winter Island. My ambition for the game idea also put in the gameplay details. For a reminder, here’s the schedule for the week as seen the last couple of days

Winter Island – Walkthrough:
Because Winter Island is an adventure game, progression is based on missions. If you complete all of the story missions, you beat the game. There are also seven different dungeons on your way, which is symbolic with the Seven Seals.
Part 1 – The Beginnings
You begin the game in the Star Estate. The first mission acts more like a tutorial mission, where your objectives are to fix the Star of Bethlehem decoration on the family’s colossal nativity set (which introduces basic controls, collecting, using items, and climbing ladders), get the Cajun seasoning (which introduces levers and pushing boxes, and defeating a bully that trespassed (which introduces fighting and restoratives).
The next step is to go to the Palm City Cathedral. While the Star Estate is in the Diamond District, the gameplay begins at the Church District because of the musical cutscene. You will talk to James about the winter, and he will tell you his thoughts on it. But as you leave, you will also be told to return a library book, starting the very first arc-long mission.
As you wait until midnight, there are four other missions. One seller is trying to sell a to-go box that he made, but he needs 300 snowflake coins. You can earn them by completing three side missions in the Train District (defeating a gang of bullies, delivering four loaves of bread, and cleaning the Chicken Bakery). You also have to collect all five golden snowflakes in the Diamond District and explore the present world in the Rocky District. Once you complete all four missions, you can go back to the Star Estate and sleep.
When midnight comes, you must return to the Palm City Cathedral. When you’re in, you have to look for the key to the vault, then enter the vault, and approach the counter with the Physics textbook, which is also where you’ll see the Candy Cane Staff, the main weapon of the game.
Story Mission List:
- Let There Be Light
- Audience with James
- The Physics Book
- Rough Times in Palm City
- Mysterious Present
- The Golden Snowflakes
- The Takeout
- Get Some Sleep
- Explore the Church
Side Mission List:
- Bully the Bullies*
- Bread Delivery*
- Clean the Chicken Bakery*
*Part of the mission Rough Times in Palm City
Part 2 – Returning the Book
Once you have the library book, the next step is to go to Lumen City. However, the Isle Subway is down at the moment, so the only way to safely get out is by purchasing a snowmobile. There is a seller in the Rocky District, but due to the kidnapping of his daughter, none of the snowmobiles are for sale to anyone. But if you save his daughter, you can obtain a snowmobile.
The next objective is to go to the Cold Caves. You’ll have to walk your way through the low-temperature, high-humidity tunnels and caverns. In one of the caverns, there is a fully-built cabin that can provide warmth. This is where you can learn to change the color of your player light, as provided by the Candy Cane Staff. Once you get the upgrade, you can continue exploring the caves until you find Charlotte, who is trapped inside a cage. You will also see a beast, who will eat Charlotte. Defeat the beast, and Charlotte will be free.
Once you have rescued Charlotte, you must return her to the snowmobile dealer. You will be given a free snowmobile, and it’s their most futuristic model, as built by the Sci-Fi Labs. Charlotte will also attach a sled to the snowmobile so she can ride with Jenny. Ride the snowmobile to Lumen City. You will arrive in the city via the Liberty District, but the Eagle District is where the library is found. While you can use the snowmobile to get to the Eagle District, it’s safe to walk there without using the snowmobile. There’s also a quicker mode of transportation, which is through the trolleys.
Of course, before you leave for Lumen City, you can go back into the Cold Caves and collect the five never-melting ice crystals, which will be used to create the Snowball Shooter. You can also perform a violin solo in the Liberty District to earn the Jingle Bells item.
Story Mission List:
- The Physics Book
- To Lumen City
- Need a Snowmobile
- Rescue Charlotte Sky
Side Mission List:
- The Snowball Shooter
- Violin Solo
Dungeon #1 – The Cold Caves:
The Cold Caves begins in a small tunnel. There are a total of nine caverns in the Cold Caves, connected to different tunnels like if it were a network of tunnels. However, you can only explore five of them before you upgrade the Candy Cane Staff. The nine caverns are:
- Stalagmite Cavern
- Ice Crystal Cavern
- Mine Cavern
- Cliff Cavern
- Cabin Cavern
- Waterfall Cavern
- Ruins Cavern
- Lava Cavern
- Beast Cavern
The cave that Charlotte was kept in is the Beast Cavern, which requires going through either the Ruins Cavern or the Lava Cavern, both of which require going through the Waterfall Cavern. You can’t go to the Waterfall Cavern without crossing the machines in the Mine Cavern, and you can’t cross them without triggering flashing light sensors. So the first step is to look for the cabin in one of the caverns, where you can talk to Penelope Sky. She will teach you the ability to change the color of the Candy Cane Staff’s glow, which can help you trigger flashing light sensors, and ultimately cross the Mine Cavern.
When you get to the Beast Cavern, you will see your first boss, which is the beast. You’ll have to defeat the beast to free Charlotte.
Part 3 – The Library Fire
So you have arrived at the Grand Lumen City Library, but the library was set on fire. Worse yet, the librarian is dead. But you can’t leave quite yet. Evil spirits have captured some people and trapped them in the library. If you defeat the evil spirits, which require manipulating your player light to match the color of their souls, you can free the captives.
After you free the captives, you will learn some facts about the library fire. You will then have to report to Mr. Barquoy for some clues, then report to James. Jenny will be kept in the church for disobeying James, so you will have to use Charlotte to investigate Carl Robertson, the prime suspect of the library fire. You’ll have to talk to two of his victims in the Faith District, then talk to him about the fire. You’ll learn that he wasn’t responsible for the fire, but he does have a friend you can talk to. You’ll then learn from other residents from his gated community about other organized crimes that you could investigate, which won’t be part of the gameplay, but is something Charlotte eventually does.
When you meet Jenny at the City Hall after investigations, you will get to play as her again. You will then have to go to Jack Cross’s house in the Eagle District to talk to him about who was responsible for the library fire. But this also means you’ll have to rescue his son, Andrew, who was captured by demons that went through a mysterious passage in the family’s basement.
Some time between freeing the captives in the library and freeing Andrew, for as long you’re playing as Jenny, you will have new side missions available. In the Liberty District, you can collect the utensils the chef lent to three of the villagers to earn a box of crawfish. In the Eagle District, you can suppress a bank robbery to earn snowflake coins and open a bank account. In the Faith District, you can deliver a cake from an Islamic bakery to earn a dungeon guide. And in the Angel District, you can defeat the attack robot to earn the ability to direct your snowmobile to your position.
Story Mission List:
- The Library Fire
- Save the Captives
- Talk to Mr. Barquoy
- Talk to James
- Investigate Carl Robertson
- Talk to Jack Cross
- Rescue Andrew Cross
Side Mission List:
- Return the Cooking Utensils
- Lumen City Bank Robbery
- Bakery Delivery Quest
- First Attack Robot
Dungeon #2 – Hall of Death:
The second dungeon is the Hall of Death, also known as the “gauntlet of death basement”. You can enter the dungeon by riding the elevating platform in the alcove of the basement (which you can reveal using your player light). It starts with a few tunnels, as well as a room with three swinging choppers swinging back and forth. But then you’ll be in the main room, which has a spike pit for a floor, while you can find columns, wall-side catwalks, and ledges. Without the ability to glide, the only complete path accessible through the entry is the path to the furnace on the right, which is locked unless if four people are standing on the floor sensors at once. You can get to the prison on the other side of the room, which requires walking along the catwalks on the left side. Your jumps and use of player light can help you get across.
The hall to the prison has a few flame vents and spiked floors, but the prison itself isn’t. There are six cells imprisoning five teenage prisoners, and Andrew is in one of them. There’s only one open cell, and there’s a key inside. Use it to free the one female teenager, who will teach Jenny how to glide using the Candy Cane Staff. With the ability to glide, you can explore more of the main room, accessing rooms from higher up. This way, you can find and collect three other keys so you can free the other teenagers that aren’t Andrew. The ones you set free will help you access the furnace. You’ll have to enter the furnace to fight the boss, which is the Brazen Bull, a sentient torture device that acts as a gateway to Hell. Once you defeat the Brazen Bull, you can get the key to Andrew’s cell. Once you free Andrew, you will automatically leave the Hall of Death.
Part 4 – Stay in Palm City
Now that you know that the library fire was an act of organized crime committed by a cult, Charlotte and their newest ally, Andrew, will investigate the other crimes to see if the cult was the culprit. Meanwhile, you’ll have to play as Jenny, who was bound to Palm City under the threat of being fired as James’ lead advisor. But there are stuff that you can do.
During this part of the game, you’ll notice that three restaurants in the Train District and Arena District were being threatened by mobs (which are actually part of the same cult that burned down the library). These restaurants are the Chicken Bakery, To-Go Burgers, and Burrito Hut. These missions are similar to the mission where you previously fought a gang of bullies, but this time, you’re fighting larger crowds of tougher people.
When you have defeated all three mobs via enemy-clearing goals, you will have to go to the Palm City Sports Arena for a ceremony, where Jenny will be recognized as a hero.
You will have one more mission where you have to fight the mob. This time, you’ll be defending the library in the Arena District. They will try to burn down the library. Defeat them to save the library, but by doing this, James will ban you from the Palm City Cathedral and other churches.
There are two other missions like this in the Diamond District and Rocky District, which won’t be available until after you save the restaurants. But if you save the library, you won’t be able to start or complete these missions, but they only reward you in money.
Story Mission List:
- Save the Restaurants
- A Ceremony
- Save the Library
Side Mission List:
- Save the Snowmobile Shop
- Save the Diamond District Academy
Part 5 – Money for Charity
Bad news! Jenny has not only been fired as James’ lead advisor, but she’s also banned from ever going to the Palm City Cathedral. Worse yet, she’s banned from every single church on the island, and she can’t leave the island either. But the good news is that now that you’re no longer under James’ control, you are free to leave Palm City and continue investigating the cult.
First thing’s first. You’ll have to rent a suite room for as long as you can until the cult has been suppressed. With the belief that they are the source of the eternal winter, this is your new objective. After all, further investigations by Andrew and Charlotte discovered that the cult were responsible for the other organized crimes, so you’ll need to learn what they really want. This begins with going to their “church” in the Faith District, then the trio will split up to pick up information. You can find one cult member in the Liberty District, who will ask for money since he ran out of money due to “cult fees”. You will have to go to the room, get some money of yours, then give it to him so he can pay his mortgages, while also revealing how cult members are being abused and why they were committing organized crimes.
You will then find several tents belonging to cult members who were bound to face eviction since they had no money. You’ll have to visit Mr. Barquoy at his office, Chester Miller in Moonlight Harbor’s east side, and Gerald Golden in Moonlight Harbor’s west side. You’ll collect money as you talk to them while they tell you some of James’ darkest secrets. One of the last things you’ll have to do before donating to the cult members in the tent is reuniting Audrey Golden, Gerald’s wife, with Mr. Barquoy, her only son. This will give you more money while revealing which person that gave Mr. Barquoy, Chester, and Audrey trouble in the past (Audrey reveals that Mr. Barquoy’s original last name was Pride, which Jenny knew was James’ last name).
When you have the money, you can donate to the cult members at their tents, but not before meeting up with Andrew and Charlotte at the hotel room. You’ll start donating money in the Eagle District, which is a simple fetch quest. But in the other districts, you’ll have to fight the priests as you donate money. When you get to the Faith District, Charlotte will be kidnapped, so you’ll have to save her.
At this time of the game, you can learn James’ other secrets by talking to the church staff visiting Lumen City and Moonlight Harbor. You will also have more side missions available. You can clean Moonlight Harbor’s seafood restaurant (via button-mashing mini-game) to get a box of Cajun shrimp, light the lighthouse to earn more money, and fix the port telescope to unlock the ability to zoom in on targets with the Snowball Shooter.
Story Mission List:
- Cult Investigations
- Find Charlotte and Andrew
- Get a Room
- Help Matthew
- Money for the Cult
- Mr. Barquoy’s Visit
- Chester Miller’s Visit
- Gerald Golden’s Visit
- Mother and Son Reunion
- Eagle District Donations
- Liberty District Donations
- Angel District Donations
- Faith District Donations
- Save Charlotte
Side Mission List:
- Clean the Seafood Restaurant
- Light the Lighthouse
- Repair the Telescope
Part 6 – Secrets Revealed
Once you finished the donation battles, you will be scoffed at by James again, showing an overreach of power. Despite Jenny not taking the threat seriously other than being a crime, she, Charlotte, and Andrew will all end up in Palm City anyway, with no way out for a brief period of time.
The first thing to do is to go near the small thundering cloud (which is God in another form, who previously shown up as a lion in an earlier cutscene). You will learn from God that one of the church staff members is the leader of the cult. Given previous information that Charlotte picked up, the mysterious cult leader was one of the richest men on the island. This will narrow down to two men, Jenny’s father, and James. Since talking to James is too risky, your best bet is to talk to Peter Star, who is inside the Star Estate.
After learning that Peter Star has no ties to the cult, you’ll have knowledge that James is the leader of the cult. You’ll then have to talk to one of the church staff at the Chicken Bakery. After that, the next step is to head to the Palm City Cathedral, where one of the church staff members allows you to enter the church again.
NOTE: James’ expulsion from the Palm City Cathedral is completely an off-screen event. While subsequent events show that he didn’t take it too well, you’ll only learn about it by talking to one of the priests at the Palm City Cathedral and in the musical cutscene.
Story Mission List:
- A Mysterious Cloud
- Talk to Peter
- Secrets Revealed
- To the Palm City Cathedral
Part 7 – The Cult of James
The second part of the game begins after the musical cutscene where James breaks down. You will be inside the suite room with Andrew, Charlotte, and four others. The first mission is to invent the infinite basket, then talk to Craig Marley, and then return to the hotel room to talk to Mr. Barquoy about saving the island.
This is where the real game begins. From the very beginning, your goal was to end the eternal winter, and the cult was ultimately responsible for it. At this point, the winter has gotten worse, but with knowledge that James was the leader of the cult and the cult existing for as long as he has power over them, the objective is to break his power source, the magical chest. However, such chest is too strong for Jenny’s Candy Cane Staff, so your focus is to boost the power of it.
Around the island, there are four magical crystals. Each time you smash one, your Candy Cane Staff will become more powerful, just like how a long metal sword has more power than a short wooden sword. If you break all four of them, your Candy Cane Staff will be strong enough to break the chest. At the same time, the existence of these crystals is one of the catalysts of making James’ magical chest invulnerable to destruction, and each crystal is the source of the curse affecting surrounding villages.
To get to the villages, you’ll need to talk to Mr. Barquoy. He will give you a ticket, which is required to access each of the four towns with a magic crystal (Moonlight Harbor, Agrarian Beach, Palm City, and Aurora Village). You can free each town in any order, but beware! Once you enter one of these towns, there’s no going back to Lumen City or any of the others until you smash the crystals. When you have smashed the magic crystals, you can return to Lumen City.
The order you free each town from the curses is completely up to you, but that does not change the order of the Lumen City events. After you free each village, you will have a wave of missions to complete in Lumen City, which you are required to finish before Mr. Barquoy can give you the next ticket. You have no choice but to free one of the villages when Mr. Barquoy arrives in the suite. After freeing one village, you will have to try to save Janet’s life, stop the priests from blocking hospital admissions to the injured cult members, and attend the funeral, along with a mission where you play as Andrew to save people from the house fires. After freeing two villages, you will have another donation battle similar to what you did earlier, as well as help Craig leave Terra Vita. After freeing three villages, Mr. Barquoy is killed, and you’ll have to attend his funeral.
Once you have freed all four villages, your Candy Cane Staff will be fully upgraded, ready to destroy the magical chest. Your first step is to return to a now-empty church owned by the cult, where you’ll witness James killing one last person. Go inside to trigger a cutscene where the chest gets weakened even more and removed. You will then get to whack the chest. Each whack will create a knockback force, but it would contribute to damage. Whack it nine times to break the chest.
During this arc of the game, you also have two other side missions, both of which involve the Sci-Fi Labs, which requires having the Snowball Shooter to start. If you fund the Sci-Fi Labs with 5,000 Snowflake Coins, you can earn an upgrade to your Snowball Shooter, while unlocking another side mission that is a chain of deals to earn another upgrade – homing ammo. You can fund them as early as before you free the first village, but for every village you free, you’ll unlock two delivery requests in the chain. It takes eight delivery quests, starting and ending at the Sci-Fi Labs to complete the mission, thus requiring to free all four villages.
Story Mission List:
- The Infinite Basket
- Talk to Craig
- Message from Mr. Barquoy
- The Cult of James
- The Magical Chest
- Free Moonlight Harbor
- Free Agrarian Beach
- Free Palm City

- Mr. Barquoy’s Funeral
- Return to the Hotel
- Back at the Church
- Break the Chest
Side Mission List:
- Fund the Sci-Fi Labs
- Tools of the Trade
Part 8 – Curse in Moonlight Harbor
Although you can free the villages in any order, Moonlight Harbor is the easiest one to free. There’s not much you can do to get the key to the Bayside Haunted House on the west side of the bay, the house is a lot easier to navigate, and the dungeon boss is not that hard. This is in contrast to Agrarian Beach (which has more missions before accessing the dungeon), Palm City (which has a lot harder dungeon to navigate), and Aurora Village (which has the toughest boss).
You can get the key to the Haunted House from the doctors, which requires collecting three hidden flasks in the eastern side of the bay. The one problem is that each flask is surrounded by five killer seagulls. You can’t collect the flasks without killing the seagulls.
Along with the three side missions you previously had in Moonlight Harbor in case you haven’t finished them, there are two new side missions in Moonlight Harbor after breaking the curse. You can clean the wharf to earn money, and stop a gift shop robbery to earn another to-go box.
Story Mission List:
- Free Moonlight Harbor
- Key to the House
- Find the Flasks
Side Mission List:
- Clean the Wharf
- Save the Gift Shop
Dungeon #3 – Bayside Haunted House:
One of the four dungeons to have the magic crystals, it begins in the lobby. For your information, the red ghosts are enemies, but the blue ghosts (including George Washington and Abraham Lincoln) are helpful. You can only navigate the first floor until you break all five chests. After that, the ghost of Washington will grant you the ability to perform dash attacks. This can help you gain access to the second floor and the third floor, where you can find the key to the basement.
In the basement, you will have to fight the ghost of Napoleon before you can smash the crystals. His skill is speed, where he can dodge your attacks easily, even snowballs. But your dash attack can help defeat him.
Part 9 – Curse in Agrarian Beach
Agrarian Beach’s main problem since the curse began were the snow crabs, which can kill people by simply pinching them (but to Jenny, she only takes part damage). Each time you defeat one, a new one respawns. Therefore, you’ll have to break the snow castle along one of the shores. Doing that will stop them from respawning, but that would also make the snow crabs in Flora move faster and attack in armies, while the snow crabs in Fauna will grow bigger. You’ll have a larger enemy-clearing goal in Flora than in Fauna, but completing each enemy-clearing goal will stop the crabs.
The snow crabs aren’t the only problem. There are also ice hawks and ice wolves attacking the farms, albeit only attacking the people. Like the snow crabs, you have to break the nest to stop them from spawning. Not like the snow crabs, you have to do it in reverse order. If you defeat at least five of each, their nests will appear, the hawks’ nest in Fauna, and the wolves’ nest in Flora. Destroying their nests will make them all disappear.
For each species you wipe out, you will get a special object. A stone for raising a giant sand castle, a magic torch for lighting the sand castle’s torches, and a teleportation ruby to put on the throne. You will need all three pieces to access the dungeon in the region. But the magic crystal isn’t in the dungeon, but rather inside one of the caves near Fauna. But the cave is blocked by a giant boulder, and the crystal is unbreakable for as long as the Giant Sand Crab is still alive. If you have the ability to break heavier objects, you can break the boulder from outside. But in case you left the dungeon without defeating the Giant Sand Crab, the crystals will be unbreakable until after you defeat the Giant Sand Crab.
When you have broken the curse, you have two new side missions available in Agrarian Beach. You can feed the remaining livestock using someone else’s infinite basket to earn another to-go box, and you can stop the seed thieves to earn money.
Story Mission List:
- Free Agrarian Beach
- The Snow Crabs
- Ice Hawks
- Ice Wolves
- Giant Sand Castle
- Into the Cave
Side Mision List:
- Care for the Livestock
- Stop the Seed Thieves
Dungeon #4 – Sand Tunnels:
The way into the Sand Tunnels is through the Giant Sand Castle. You will need to summon the Sand Castle with the Summon Stone, open the portcullis by lighting the two torches with the magic torch, and placing the Teleportation Ruby on the throne. If you sit on the throne with the ruby, you will be sent into the Sand Caves.
While the dungeon ultimately translates to traveling back and forth down the long tunnel, you will have to make stops every once in a while. You start where the glowing river is at a higher level, and you will ride the raft down to the other end. But you’ll have to open each gate that gets in the way. When you get to the end, you’ll have a larger sand crab than the other smaller sand crabs. Defeat it, and you will learn the ability to break boulders with the Candy Cane Staff, regardless of how much magic was put into it. You can break your first boulder and hit the floor switch, which will lower the water level of the river. Go below and ride the raft back to the other side. You will have to repeat the same process.
At the end, you’ll enter a large cave where you will fight the Giant Sand Crab. Attack-wise, it is the weakest boss, but it’s also a damage-sponge boss, requiring 12 hits to defeat. Defeat the Giant Sand Crab, and you will be out of the Sand Caves.
Part 10 – Curse in Palm City
Palm City’s problem is that every soul belonging to the residents and visitors have been stolen and were put in the Cavern of Fire. The only person who can help is Jessica Star, Jenny’s mother. You’ll learn that you’ll have to collect five stones, each of them being in different districts. But you’ll have to do some fighting to earn the stones, testing different battle skills.
When you have all five stones, you can enter the Cavern of Fire, which is accessible through one of the early caverns in the Cold Caves. Once you’re in, be prepared.
There’s only one new side mission available after freeing Palm City. You’ll have to climb the Palm City Cathedral and zipline to the rooftops to save one of the cats. Bring the cat, and you’ll earn some snowflake coins.
Story Mission List:
- Free Palm City
- The Key Stones
- Tough Monster Trial
- Monster Gang Trial
- Flying Monster Trial
- Time Trial
- No Hit Trial
Side Mission List:
- Save the Cat
Dungeon #5 – Cavern of Fire:
Between the puzzles, the hazards, and the enemies, the Cavern of Fire is the toughest dungeon. You can find the cave with the magic crystal right away, but you can’t even break the crystal without defeating the Magma Lion. There are two arenas that you’ll have to get to. One of them doesn’t require riding the zipline near the dungeon entry. You’ll have to go through a series of hazards, switches, and platforms. The trick is knowing the correct order of the platforms. You can also skip the puzzles if you hit the wall switches, given that you went through the Bayside Haunted House first. When you reach the arena, you will have to defeat five fire spirits to unlock the ability to zipline.
Once you have the ability to zipline, you can ride the zipline down, which takes you through another part of the cave. While there are less puzzles, there’s a lot of platforming (including the ziplining segments), and there’s no way you can skip that part. When you reach the arena, you will face Magma Lion, the weakest boss defensively, but also the most damaging boss. Defeat it and return to the entrance so you can smash the magic crystals and save Palm City from the curse.
Part 11 – Curse in Aurora Village
Despite being the smallest village with the least to do, this one is a lot harder than it looks. This is where you’ll be fighting the toughest enemies, which are attack robots. The magic crystal is inside the space tower, but it’s hidden behind a forcefield, which requires a key card to shut down. You will also need a key card to enter the space tower, which is held by one of the robots.
When you get inside the space tower, you’ll have to reach to the top and defeat an army of attack robots. You will then gain access to the Robot Airship, which is the real dungeon. You’ll be riding the airship as it circles around Terra Vita.
You’ll have three side missions available once you break the curse. You can clean the snowboarding race track to earn snowflake coins, defeat the last remaining robots at the ski lodge to earn the Jingle Bells upgrade, and clean up the gift shop to earn more money.
Story Mission List:
- Free Aurora Village
- Into the Space Tower
- Access the Robot Airship
- The Crystal Room
Side Mission List:
- Snowboard Track Clearing
- The Last Robots
- Gift Shop Cleanup
Dungeon #6 – Robot Airship:
This dungeon is similar to exploring a giant spaceship with different rooms. Your goal is to enter the Laser Titan’s quarters, which is in the middle floor (where you start). This requires collecting two key cards, one from the top floor, and one from the bottom floor. But to access either floor, you’ll have to defeat the guardian robots, which constantly shoot laser beams at you. If you block their attacks, the beams will go right back at them, killing them if they get hit three times. So your first step is to unlock the ability to block attacks with your Candy Cane Staff, which can be done by solving a 5×5 Lights Out puzzle in one of the rooms. Defeating one of the guardians will unlock access to the bottom floor, while defeating the other will unlock access to the top floor.
When you have both key cards, you can enter the quarters and defeat the Laser Titan. Its only weakness is laser beams, which you don’t have. But if you can reflect its attacks, it will go right back at him. It takes nine reflected shots to defeat him. But your player light needs to match the color of the beams to reflect them.
Part 12 – Revelations
The eternal winter is now over, but the game isn’t over yet. You still have to stop James. Your first mission is a choice between playing as Jenny (who is hunting down James), Charlotte (who is giving out the money), and Andrew (who is working on establishing the Republic of Terra Vita). If you choose to play as Jenny, you need to look for James, who went to Moonlight Harbor to escape. If you choose to play as Charlotte, you’ll get to play a money-giving mini-game. If you choose to play as Andrew, you’ll be going to the Arena District in Palm City and talk to the mayor about starting a united republic, which will then require collecting signatures. Either way, once your job is complete, you must head back to the suite room.
While you’re in the room, you’ll notice that both Peter and Jessica Star were already there. They tell their daughter that there’s one place left to look for James. It’s a small cave along Lumen City. You must head to the cave and go through the doors. This will take you to the last dungeon, where you also fight the last boss, which is James.
Once James is defeated, you will be going inside the church. Once you leave, the final cutscene plays, and the game is over.
Story Mission List:
- Look for James**
- Money Giveaway**
- United Republic of Terra Vita**
- Mysterious Doors
- Day of Wrath
- Live in the Grace
Dungeon #7 – Revelations Temple:
As the last dungeon of the game, this one would review your skills. The first part of the dungeon has more puzzle-like aspects, as the second part of the dungeon has more platforming aspects. When you get to the end of the second part, you will earn one last upgrade, which is the lightning upgrade.
The third and final part before fighting James is to awaken the seven gargoyles. Six of them can be awakened by going into each of the rooms marked by numbered doors.
- The first room is an empty room with a 3×3 puzzle that is a slider puzzle (yellow light), rotating tile puzzle (red light), and picture match puzzle (blue light). You’ll awaken the first gargoyle if you have a complete picture of the crucifixion of Jesus.
- The second room has a series of monsters to fight. Defeat them all to awaken the second gargoyle.
- The third room has a lot of gold coins, but the goal is to collect the four food items and place them in the basket. This will awaken the third gargoyle.
- The fourth room, noted by the skeletons and skulls, has crumbling tiles and spike pits. You must reach the floor switch to awaken the fourth gargoyle.
- The fifth room is a survival room, where you won’t have your Candy Cane Staff. You must survive for one minute without being defeated by the monsters in white robes. Once times runs out, you’ll awaken the fifth gargoyle.
- The sixth room is dark, with the only source of light being the falling fireballs. There’s also a lot of crumbling titles if you step on them. Reach the floor switch to awaken the sixth gargoyle.
Once you awaken all six gargoyles, you can hit the floor switch from outside the six rooms to awaken the seventh gargoyle, thus opening the door to James’ Lair.
After the musical cutscene that follows, you are ready to fight James. The earlier bosses were a lot easier with simpler gimmicks, but this boss, is super tough. There are five phases to the battle:
- The first phase involves him firing magical missiles from his wand. Getting hit by one will cause a 4-unit damage (2-unit damage if you have a defense upgrade). But if you get hit while trying to block the attack, you will be charged up. After getting charged up three times, you can strike James with lightning. If you strike him with fully-charged lightning three times, you will finish the first phase.
- The second phase involves him creating quakes with his wand. Dodge them as you get to him. It takes nine whacks to get to the third phase, but each time you whack him three times, he will create a force sending you back to the arena walls.
- The third phase involves playing a game of ping-pong with magic, where he will shoot magical spells at you. You must reflect his spells by whacking it with your Candy Cane Staff, only for him to reflect it. Once he drops his guard, you can hit him once. Do this three times.
- The fourth phase will involve his lightning strikes. One hit will knock of eight units of health (four units with the defense upgrade). He will also have a health meter. You must dodge his lightning strikes while hitting him as much as you can. But get too close, he can create a shockwave. Once his health meter runs out, you are finished with the phase.
- In the final phase, he will shoot a purple magic beam that will lock onto you and accelerate as you move. If it gets you, it’s an instant death. But if you hit James while dodging it, the spell is dropped, and James’ wand is destroyed. By this point, you have defeated James.
