3D Platformer Analysis – All Mario Levels, Ranked

As I start going in depth into all six games, the first one will be about the levels. Today’s entry will explore the Side A platformers and what levels I like best.

Not counting all of the bonus levels (like the Buoy Base Galaxy), hubs, or Bowser levels (including Corona Mountain), there are a total of 37 levels in the Mario games. And if you were to count all of the bonus levels and the hubs, that will leave you a whopping 78 levels! But today’s review will only cover 37 of them. Particularly, the main levels, where the majority of the Power Stars and Shine Sprites can be found. I may rank the other levels, but without explanation.

I left each section contracted to save room on this page, so click to open the details.

Super Mario 64 Levels

The 15 levels in Super Mario 64 may be small and look empty compared to levels in today’s video games or even later N64 games, but they are all quite interesting. And this game has all of the essentials – a lava level, an ice level, a desert level, a sea level, a haunted house level, a cave level, and a mechanical level. Plus, several other generic levels. The main disadvantage of the levels in Super Mario 64 is that the levels are very small. In general, smaller levels are better than larger levels since they’re easier to navigate, but the levels in this game are too small.

Levels are ordered by ranking, not by order of the levels. Here is the list of all Super Mario 64 levels ranked from best to worst. Behold! The 15 levels from the greatest Mario game ever!

  • #1 – Tick Tock Clock: This is the ultimate level! At the beginning of the game, you start off easy, but the difficulty eventually builds up. By the time you get here, you are taken to the ultimate test with your acrobatic skills. The high number of moving platforms, the multiple stars at many stops as you go up, the happy soundtrack association with the final levels of Super Mario 64, and the ability to determine the behavior of moving platforms upon entry all have put this level right at the top. It’s just as high on my ranked lists for Super Mario 64 as the star on top of the Thwomp in this level.
    • Best MissionStomp on the Thwomp
    • Worst MissionGet a Hand
    • Best Part: The behavior of the platforms based on when you enter the level.
    • Worst Part: The Heave-Ho.
  • #2 – Shifting Sand Land: The outside area is not so great. Judging by the music, it’s one of the darker levels in the game. The whirlwinds and the sinking sand traps make this level worse. At least the crushers give you room to hide as they move along. But once you’re inside the pyramid, the level starts to get a lot more interesting. There are at least two missions where you have to climb to the top of the pyramid from the inside to complete.
    • Best MissionInside the Ancient Pyramid
    • Worst MissionIn the Talons of the Big Bird
    • Best Part: The ancient pyramid.
    • Worst Part: The Klepto.
  • #3 – Whomp’s Fortress: By this point, you can see that the top three best levels consists of an early level, a middle level, and a late level. And this one is a classic hit! You got stars at the top of the fortress, around the walls, and by collecting the red coins. There’s also multiple ways up, if you know more moves.
    • Best MissionTo the Top of the Fortress
    • Worst MissionFall onto the Caged Island
    • Best Part: The moving platforms.
    • Worst Part: The caged island.
  • #4 – Snowman’s Land: The better of the two winter-themed levels, and this one won’t be seen until later in the game. This is the one where you have an ice block to explore, a snowman to get on top of, and an igloo with Spindrifts and Goombas, as well as one Bob-Omb (which is your friend). The only hazards are freezing cold water, but I would rather take that than lava.
    • Best MissionIn the Deep Freeze
    • Worst MissionChill with the Bully
    • Best Part: The igloo is the best part of the level. Like the ancient pyramid, it has more relaxing music. And it’s much smaller.
    • Worst Part: This is one of the few levels where Mario can lose his hat. If you’re trying to climb the snowman’s head, and you mess up with the wind, you’ll be blown off and thus forced to start over. And you can lose your hat in the process.
  • #5 – Wet-Dry World: As you unlock the new levels after defeating Bowser a second time, you’ll start exploring levels with interesting gimmicks. In this one, you’ll have a small fortress along the level boundaries, and much of the level is flooded. But when you touch the diamonds, that would change the water level. The higher they are, the higher the water level goes up. It would be more ideal to have a higher water level to avoid the Heave-Hos, but lower if you’re trying to enter the express elevator.
    • Best MissionGo to Town for Red Coins
    • Worst MissionExpress Elevator–Hurry Up!
    • Best Part: The small town hidden in the level.
    • Worst Part: The enemies that can throw you.
  • #6 – Tiny-Huge Island: Another level with an interesting gimmick, and this one involves shrinking and growing the island through the pipe. It’s like Gulliver’s Travels here. When the island is small, it’s easier to navigate. But when it’s large, it’s more of a challenge to explore. However, the level is pretty difficult.
    • Best MissionFive Itty Bitty Secrets
    • Worst MissionRematch with Koopa the Quick
    • Best Part: The whole size concept of the level.
    • Worst Part: The large Cheep Cheep.
  • #7 – Hazy Maze Cave: As the first level in the basement levels of Super Mario 64, this is when the game starts to pick up in difficulty. Throughout the entire level, you’ll be inside some cave. One path takes you to the boulder pit, which if you get around, you’ll reach the swimming lake with the Dorrie (the Loch Ness monster in the cave). On the other path, you’ll enter some construction zone like cave, which then leads you to the toxic maze the level is named after.
    • Best MissionA-Maze-Ing Emergency Exit
    • Worst MissionElevate for 8 Red Coins
    • Best Part: Finding the Metal Cap Course.
    • Worst Part: Controlling the lift.
  • #8 – Bob-Omb Battlefield: This is where your journey begins. You start at a hill that is a Bob-Omb’s military zone. And it’s ruled by the evil King Bob-Omb! While it may be a first good level, it seems rather bland compared to the other levels as you explore other levels.
    • Best MissionFind the 8 Red Coins
    • Worst MissionMario Wings to the Sky
    • Best Part: The missions being at every part of the level.
    • Worst Part: The level starts with a boss mission.
  • #9 – Jolly Roger Bay: Sea-themed levels and pirate levels are quite cool, but with how small this level is and how unpolished the pirate ship is, it’s really hard to rank this level any higher. It’s understandable since this is the first time Nintendo is going to 3D gameplay, but compared to what we seen in future games, this is the most disappointing pirate level ever.
    • Best MissionTreasure of the Ocean Cave
    • Worst MissionCan the Eel Come Out to Play?
    • Best Part: The pirate cave.
    • Worst Part: The eel.
  • #10 – Rainbow Ride: While Tick Tock Clock is my favorite level in the game, Rainbow Ride is not as enjoyable. This is where the main journey ends. You’ll get to ride the magic carpets as you go up, and then you can try crossing some moving platforms. But with the obstacles in the way of the carpet ride, this level can be more frustrating.
    • Best MissionSwingin’ in the Breeze
    • Worst MissionTricky Triangles!
    • Best Part: The fact the last level takes place in the sky.
    • Worst Part: Collecting 100 coins.
  • #11 – Cool, Cool Mountain: Even though it’s a winter level or snow level, there’s a reason why I ranked Snowman’s Land much higher, opposed to this level. It’s because this one has a blatant bottomless pit. It’s also worth saying that, due to how crazy the controls are, this one is harder than Snowman’s Land. But here’s the bright side. This is the same level with the famous meme where Mario drops the baby penguin off the cliff.
    • Best MissionFrosty Slide for 8 Red Coins
    • Worst MissionBig Penguin Race
    • Best Part: Dropping either baby penguin down the cliff.
    • Worst Part: The level’s slippery slides both inside and outside.
  • #12 – Tall, Tall Mountain: Another mountain level, but this time, you’ll start at the bottom. Because of the lack of snow theme, this one is emptier. And it gets harder to go up the mountain (unless if you take advantage of the back side).
    • Best MissionMysterious Mountainside
    • Worst MissionBlast to the Lonely Mushroom
    • Best Part: The upper mountain.
    • Worst Part: The log bridge.
  • #13 – Big Boo’s Haunt: Haunted house levels can be cool, but this one really isn’t all that scary. In fact, it’s empty. The walls are empty, the rooms are mostly empty, the only scary creatures are the Boos, and the house is too easy to navigate. Even the missions aren’t that great. Too many large Boo fighting missions, and the one library mission is too simple.
    • Best MissionSeek the 8 Red Coins
    • Worst MissionBig Boo’s Balcony
    • Best Part: The merry-go-round
    • Worst Part: The lack of design.
  • #14 – Dire, Dire Docks: Another aquatic level, except it’s smaller (judging by the number of coins you can collect) and not as much. This only meets the minimum expectations of a level. As of 1996, this is great since we’re looking into 3D gameplay. But nowadays, you can’t make worlds like these and call them “levels”. They require a lot more effort. As for the missions, they are as simple as you can get.
    • Best MissionCollect the Caps…
    • Worst MissionThe Manta Ray’s Surprise
    • Best Part: The post-Bowser fight changes.
    • Worst Part: Missions are too short and simple.
  • #15 – Lethal Lava Land: This level will have to be my least favorite level in Super Mario 64, and it’s for a different reason than what I said about the above two. The level is too hard. If you get touched by fire or lava, you lose control of Mario, you take a lot of damage at once, and there’s no cooldown time from taking damage. And some parts of the level make it easier for you to fall into the lava.
    • Best Mission8-Coin Puzzle with 15 Pieces
    • Worst MissionElevator Tour in the Volcano
    • Best Part: The wing cap.
    • Worst Part: The platforms that dip themselves into the lava.

As for the smaller courses, my ranked list, with no explanation, is:

  1. Bowser in the Dark World
  2. Cavern of the Metal Cap
  3. Vanish Cap Under the Moat
  4. Bowser in the Sky
  5. The Secret Aquarium
  6. Tower of the Wing Cap
  7. Bowser in the Fire Sea
  8. The Princess’s Secret Slide
  9. Wing Mario over the Rainbow

Put Peach’s Castle anywhere on the ranked list, it’ll probably go between Bob-Omb Battlefield and Jolly Roger Bay. I would also put the first four smaller courses between Hazy-Maze Cave and Bob-Omb Battlefield, the next four smaller courses between Big Boo’s Haunt and Dire, Dire Docks, and Wing Mario over the Rainbow and it’s “start outside the castle if you fall” gimmick right after Lethal Lava Land.

Above all, the best level is Tick Tock Clock, and the worst is Lethal Lava Land. The best mission is Stomp on the Thwomp, and the worst mission is Wing Mario over the Rainbow (which is a secret star of Peach’s Castle rather than one of the main level’s stars).

Super Mario Sunshine Levels

Super Mario Sunshine is considered to be the worst of the 3D Mario games. Even Shigeru Miyamoto admitted that this game was the worst. And there’s a reason why: the game is not designed for a casual gamer to finish the walkthrough without 100%ing it. It’s not just hard, but in the wrong ways. Imagine having to wash dishes while wearing roller skates under the rule that you cannot take them off. Imagine having to do homework in the dark with the rule that you cannot use a source of light. That’s Super Mario Sunshine here.

That being said, I’m part of the unpopular opinion (maybe not too unpopular, but still a small percentage) that thinks that Super Mario Sunshine is the best of the 3D Mario games. The reason is because of not just the levels, but also the missions. The missions are not that simple (not even the red coin ones due to how much worldbuilding was put into the game), and the levels are larger and more decorated, while also not being linear in level design.

Just like what I did for Super Mario 64, here’s all of the Super Mario Sunshine levels, ranked from best to worst. The real worst level is Corona Mountain, but I’m only doing the seven main levels.

  • #1 – Sirena Beach: Not only is this the best level in Super Mario Sunshine, but it’s also the best level in all six video games in this month’s review. Some video game hotels are nice to explore, but the whole level is based on a hotel. And instead of “search-and-find” missions, this one is more puzzle-based, as you’ll have to navigate the hotel through other ways than how you would expect to navigate the hotel. It also has one of the most interesting video game bosses in all six games in today’s review. And here’s a fun fact about this level: it’s the only main level you can easily access while Delfino Plaza is flooded.
    • Best MissionMysterious Hotel Delfino
    • Worst MissionScrubbing Sirena Beach
    • Best Part: The hidden passages between the rooms.
    • Worst Part: The electric goop.
  • #2 – Pinna Park: While the less-interesting beach outside the park has better music, inside the park is where it gets fun. With the exception of one of the episodes, every episode set inside the park is centered on a different ride. And there’s one in every part of the park. A giant robot at the fountain, a series of fences to climb the Ferris Wheel through behind, a merry-go-round, on-rails shooter with the roller coaster, and riding the pirate ships to climb the upper platforms. Even the shell cup attraction and pianta head statue have something since you can grab blue coins there. And let’s not forget, the enemies that appear on the beach in the latter half of the level are pretty funny because once they steal your hat, they immediately grow a mustache.
    • Best MissionRed Coins of the Pirate Ships
    • Worst MissionRoller Coaster Balloons
    • Best Part: The amusement park.
    • Worst Part: The caged blue coins.
  • #3 – Noki Bay: Being the largest level in the game, where the water is the deepest, and the whole level is on the back of Isle Delfino (where you can’t see the other levels in the background), this one is one of my favorites. It also has the most coins out of all of the levels from both Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine. But the one part that makes this level better than the other levels is the song associated with the level.
    • Best MissionThe Shell’s Secret
    • Worst MissionThe Red Coin Fish
    • Best Part: The soundtrack.
    • Worst Part: Underwater navigation (air helmet section).
  • #4 – Gelato Beach: While I’m not as much into the earlier levels, this is when level exploration starts to get more fun. As it’s a wonderful beach filled with surprises (which can be generated by the dune buds), I also liked the two cabanas and the upper hill. And don’t forget that there’s an island. Now getting 100 coins is harder in this level in my opinion, but I still like this one.
    • Best MissionDune Bud Sand Castle Secret
    • Worst MissionThe Watermelon Festival
    • Best Part: The Sand Cabana and the Surf Cabana.
    • Worst Part: The Cataquacks.
  • #5 – Ricco Harbor: Between Bianco Hills and Ricco Harbor, the better of the two levels is the second one you’ll explore. I liked battling Gooper Blooper over Petey Piranha, I prefer to be near the water than on the mountains, the steel frames for the construction add more challenge and make the level more decorated, and the theme is better. Now the blooper-surfing part is a weakness, as it’s another problem with the game as a whole, but I enjoy this level.
    • Best MissionThe Caged Shine Sprite
    • Worst MissionRed Coins on the Water
    • Best Part: Climbing the steel frames.
    • Worst Part: Blooper surfing.
  • #6 – Bianco Hills: Even though this level is beautiful and a good starting level, the added platforming in Noki Bay and Ricco Harbor and the concepts behind three other levels has put this level lower on my list. Good or bad, someone has to be the worst on a ranked list. But it does get depressing when the lake gets polluted (and that one leads to a FLUDD-less stage).
    • Best MissionRed Coins of the Windmill Village
    • Worst MissionThe Secret of the Dirty Lake
    • Best Part: The big windmill.
    • Worst Part: The valley where Petey Piranha sleeps at.
  • #7 – Pianta Village: Nearly every level in Super Mario Sunshine is lovable, but this one is not. The level is small, there isn’t really any buildings, and it’s the one main level to have a bottomless pit (which isn’t really a big deal if you’re careful enough). I would also like to say that the missions aren’t that great. It’s also safe to say that it has the worst FLUDD-less stage.
    • Best MissionChain Chomp’s Bath
    • Worst MissionSecret of the Village Underside
    • Best Part: The day/night cycle.
    • Worst Part: The village underside.

If I were to put Delfino Plaza anywhere on this list, I would put it between Noki Bay and Gelato Beach. For Delfino Airstrip, it goes between Bianco Hills and Pianta Village. As for Corona Mountain, it’s the worst in the game. It’s very difficult, rushed, and disappointing of a final level. And for all the difficulty you put in the game, the final boss (and one time you battle Bowser) is just a huge disappointment.

Above all, the best level is Sirena Beach, and the worst is Corona Mountain. The best mission is Mysterious Hotel Delfino, and the worst mission is Lily Pad Ride (one of Delfino Plaza’s levels).

Super Mario Galaxy Levels

Of the three games in Super Mario 3D All-Stars, Super Mario Galaxy was widely considered to be the best, and it was the one port done right on the original Nintendo Switch when it came out in 2020. But in my opinion, Super Mario Galaxy was my least favorite of the three. The gravity mechanic makes the game too easy and cheesy, and the prankster comets are super frustrating. Super Luigi Galaxy (the mode you unlock after collecting all 120 stars) is even more frustrating. Although I don’t ming replaying it (especially with how it was ported on the Switch), it’s not as good as the other two games. But it does have at least a few aspects that make this game better than the other two Mario games (and the three games on Side B).

Now onto the ranked list. While Buoy Base Galaxy is the real best level of the game, it’s only a mini-level compared to what’s on this ranked list.

  • #1 – Freezeflame Galaxy: This one is easily my favorite of the main galaxies in Super Mario Galaxy. Due to my bias for the winter theme, you wouldn’t be shocked to see this level higher up on my list. But this one is a mix of both fire and ice. Even if you ignored the theme, the ice side of the level, as well as the fire side, had a large enough space that involved climbing with obstacles to reach your destination. This level’s fire side is better than most levels in Super Mario Galaxy, but I like the ice side better.
    • Best MissionPurple Coins on the Summit
    • Worst MissionFrosty Cosmic Mario Race
    • Best Part: The ice side.
    • Worst Part: The starting planet.
  • #2 – Beach Bowl Galaxy: After four levels of excessive focus on the gravity mechanic, we finally got a regular level with a tropical theme. The soundtrack? I enjoyed it, as it’s one of the rare instances where an A-major soundtrack is among my favorites. The missions? They’re all good in this level, including the two prankster comet missions. It may be small, but it’s better than most of the levels. There really isn’t anything I hate about this level. The only reason why I couldn’t rank it higher is because of a winter-themed level.
    • Best MissionThe Secret Undersea Cavern
    • Worst MissionPass the Swim Test
    • Best Part: The soundtrack.
    • Worst Part: Swimming underwater.
  • #3 – Dusty Dune Galaxy: As a typical desert level with a twist of galaxy, it’s more of a calmer Egyptian-themed level rather than one of those harsher ones like from the N64 era. Even though it’s more gravity, the level is challenging enough for me. It helps that there’s a green star hidden in this level as well. But once you get to the hoards of Dry Bones, this level becomes one of the most frustrating ones.
    • Best MissionBlasting through the Sand
    • Worst MissionBullet Bill on Your Back
    • Best Part: The existence of a green star.
    • Worst Part: The Dry Bones.
  • #4 – Gold Leaf Galaxy: Despite being an autumnal and mirrored repeat of the level Honeyhive Galaxy, it ended up being the better of the two galaxies. That’s because it had more variety of missions than two Mandibug-smashing missions. Also, the fall theme is better than the spring theme.
    • Best Mission When It Rains, It Pours
    • Worst MissionCosmic Mario Forest Race
    • Best Part: The outer planets.
    • Worst Part: Prankster Comet levels (especially as Luigi).
  • #5 – Toy Time Galaxy: A more unique level in my opinion, as you get to see the toy theme. The later galaxies aren’t really that good, but this one is a nice one. It also did the gravity twist right, something I don’t see on most levels. Another advantage of this level is that it has no mission that I absolutely hate or even dislike.
    • Best MissionHeavy Metal Mecha-Bowser
    • Worst MissionBouncing Down Cake Lane
    • Best Part: Screwing the bolts.
    • Worst Part: The spring costume.
  • #6 – Gusty Garden Galaxy: Yet, another bedroom galaxy higher up on my list, but this one would have to be the weakest in my opinion. It gets better later in the level when you get to the third mission, but I didn’t enjoy it on my first time playing Super Mario Galaxy. It’s grown on me since 2015, especially when I focus more on the missions and not just the level design itself.
    • Best MissionGusty Garden’s Gravity Scramble
    • Worst MissionMajor Burrows’s Daredevil Run
    • Best Part: Getting the secret star.
    • Worst Part: Major Burrows.
  • #7 – Honeyhive Galaxy: While it’s the better of the two starting galaxies, given that the gravity part only takes up a smaller part of the level, this level seems okay at best. But the whole level essentially translates to a fighting level where you have to fight the Mandibugs, including Bugaboom. While it’s not a bad thing, it’s just not that interesting once you have seen the later levels.
    • Best MissionTrouble on the Tower
    • Worst MissionHoneyhive Cosmic Mario Race
    • Best Part: Star bit farming.
    • Worst Part: The theme.
  • #8 – Good Egg Galaxy: So once again, the first level of the game is ranked much lower among my lists. For as long as the starting level is easy, it’s a good way to introduce the game. But as more interesting levels and more frustrating levels are explored, it tends to go towards the middle of a ranked list. And Good Egg Galaxy is no exception. At this point, the “gravity” was more tolerable, but it got more annoying as the game went on.
    • Best MissionA Snack of Cosmic Proportions
    • Worst MissionDino Piranha Speed Run
    • Best Part: The glass tube.
    • Worst Part: There are two bosses, both of which are repeated later on.
  • #9 – Melty Molten Galaxy: Originally, I would have this ranked lower due to how difficult this level was, but as I had to come up with a better ranked list, I would put this a little higher. Let me tell you, the gardens observatory at the top of the Comet Observatory, has the worst levels in the game. It was especially more frustrating on the Nintendo Wii, but when the Switch had a handheld mode added, I started liking it more. But regardless of what I think of this level, the music is pretty cool.
    • Best MissionRed-Hot Purple Coins
    • Worst MissionLava Spire Daredevil Run
    • Best Part: The soundtrack.
    • Worst Part: The daredevil comet.
  • #10 – Ghostly Galaxy: I could’ve ranked this higher due to Bouldergeist, which is the best of the bosses in these games besides Bowser, but then again, it also had a pull star-heavy race and one of the worst purple coin missions in the game. So I put this at the lowest position outside the bottom five. It proven to be a better haunted house level than Big Boo’s Haunt, but then, the gravity mechanic ruined it.
    • Best MissionBeware of Bouldergeist
    • Worst MissionA Very Spooky Sprint
    • Best Part: Bouldergeist.
    • Worst Part: Any race or timed mission focused on pull stars and mines.
  • #11 – Sea Slide Galaxy: Another beach-themed galaxy, but this one ended up being one of the worst galaxies in the game. The whole level is just one loop like a racing track, and there’s two missions centered on challenges that involve going around the track underwater. This is a symptom of poor level design.
    • Best MissionThe Silver Stars of Sea Slide
    • Worst MissionUnderwater Cosmic Mario Race
    • Best Part: The soundtrack.
    • Worst Part: The level design according to a map.
  • #12 –Battlerock Galaxy: The soundtrack of the level (and its dreadnought counterpart) is one of the best in the game, only behind “Bowser’s Galaxy Reactor” and “Buoy Base Galaxy”. But the level is unfortunately in the bottom five of my list. The action is pretty cool, but the linearity of the level design isn’t.
    • Best MissionBreaking into the Battlerock
    • Worst MissionBattlerock’s Garbage Dump
    • Best Part: The soundtrack.
    • Worst Part: The secret star.
  • #13 – Deep Dark Galaxy: Aside to being one of the hardest levels (albeit not as bad as Dreadnought Galaxy and Melty Molten Galaxy), having two repeat missions makes this level repetitive, and being a dark level among the three dark levels (judging by the soundtrack) makes Super Mario Galaxy look like it’s having a depressing end on the main levels, in contrast to Super Mario 64‘s. It also doesn’t look like a galaxy anyone would want to visit like most of the earlier 12 galaxies.
    • Best MissionBoo in a Box
    • Worst MissionGhost Ship Daredevil Run
    • Best Part: The shrinking planet.
    • Worst Part: Diving deep.
  • #14 – Space Junk Galaxy: Even though that’s the whole point of the level, I’m not a fan of putting a whole bunch of debris and calling it a “level”. There’s like no worlds to explore. No planets besides that glass planet. It’s all random objects with gravity on each. The fact that this is one of the first levels in the game gave me an impression that this is what the whole game will be about. And to top it all off, there’s two boss missions, back-to-back.
    • Best MissionPull Star Path
    • Worst MissionTarantox’s Tangled Web
    • Best Part: The glass planet with the Hungry Luma.
    • Worst Part: The overall level design.
  • #15 – Dreadnought Galaxy: This galaxy will have to be the hardest level in both Super Mario Galaxy and all of the 3D Mario games in today’s entry. Second mission? Super hard. Third mission? Boss is easy, but getting to the boss is super hard. Speed run comet? It’s a repeat of the third mission. Purple comet? Hardest of the purple comets. Secret star? No room for error in this motion-controlled game. For this reason, this is the worst level in the game.
    • Best MissionInfiltrating the Dreadnought
    • Worst MissionDreadnought’s Garbage Dump
    • Best Part: The soundtrack.
    • Worst Part: The high difficulty.

As for the smaller galaxies, my ranked list, with no explanation, is:

  1. Buoy Base Galaxy
  2. Bowser’s Galaxy Reactor
  3. Grand Finale Galaxy
  4. Gateway Galaxy
  5. Sweet Sweet Galaxy
  6. Sand Spiral Galaxy
  7. Bowser’s Star Reactor
  8. Bigmouth Galaxy
  9. Flipswitch Galaxy
  10. Hurry-Scurry Galaxy
  11. Bubble Breeze Galaxy
  12. Bubble Blast Galaxy
  13. Drip Drop Galaxy
  14. Rolling Green Galaxy
  15. Bowser Jr.’s Robot Reactor
  16. Bonefin Galaxy
  17. Matter Splatter Galaxy
  18. Bowser Jr.’s Airship Armada
  19. Bowser’s Dark Matter Plant
  20. Bowser Jr.’s Lava Reactor
  21. Rolling Gizmo Galaxy
  22. Honeyclimb Galaxy
  23. Boo’s Boneyard Galaxy
  24. Sling Pod Galaxy
  25. Snow Cap Galaxy
  26. Loopdeeloop Galaxy
  27. Loodeeswoop Galaxy

These galaxies are all over the place. Not even the Dreadnought Galaxy could be at the bottom had this been included. Throw in Comet Observatory, it goes between Toy Time Galaxy and Gusty Garden Galaxy.

For just the main galaxies alone, the winner is Freezeflame Galaxy, while Dreadnought Galaxy is at the bottom. The best mission is The Floating Fortress from Buoy Base Galaxy, and the worst mission is Dreadnought’s Garbage Dump.

If you want to see more explanation in the main levels and why I ranked them that way, they are in the tabs. But, if you want to see a full ranked list of all 78 levels from the three games in Super Mario 3D All Stars, here you go! Here’s a list of all 37 main levels ranked from best to worst:
